The Matasar Family
The Matasar Family Scholarship Endowed Fund was established in honor of the memory of Sharon Thal Matasar. Sharon was married to Richard Matasar and was mother to Miriam-Jennifer Thal Matasar and Adam Matasar. She was sister-in-law to David Matasar, and mother-in-law to Katie Melancon Matasar. Sharon taught Spanish, Spanish as a second language, English as a second language, and French to grade school, high school, and university students for more than 40 years. Her impact was felt by generations of students because of her dedication as their teacher and her commitment to helping them achieve their dreams. She cared deeply about social justice issues and believed strongly in the value of a legal education to improve the lives of law students and the lives of those served by them. This scholarship honors both of those passions.
The Matasar Family Scholarship Endowed Fund provides scholarship support for one or more students at Tulane University School of Law or its successor, with first preference to students whose first language is Spanish and second preference to any other students whose first language is not English.
